Ref: OV4
A one-bedroom old village house in a most spectacular location, with the option of also purchasing the house next door.
This 50sq.m. house is almost 200 years old. It has outer walls 70cm thick with stone windowsills and traditional Pelion slate roof. It has been tastefully restored by its German architect owner to a high standard and is being sold furnished. It connects with the house next door (Ref OV5) which is being sold separately.
The end of a row of three small houses, this one is on the edge of the cliff with it’s own stone paved terrace and has the most amazing views of the sea and the island. Set in a peaceful corner of the Old Village yet only seconds from all the facilities, this has to be one of the most desirable locations in the Old Village.
Stone paving leads past the other two houses to this one and stone steps lead to the front door.
The front door leads into the living room (4 x 2.75m average) with old stripped beamed ceiling, plaka (stone paved) floor, window to front and traditional Sporades breadoven/ fireplace. The dining table and six chairs complete this room.
A small step up leads into the kitchen area (4.5 x 2.75m max) with windows to the side. There are storage cupboards with marble worktops, a large, deep white sink, gas rings, a modern stainless steel electric oven and 6ft fridge freezer. A large work bench, with storage, is in the centre of the room and the area is well-lit with spotlighting.
The shower room (3.5 x 1.4m max) leads from the living area and has a plaka floor, shower, toilet, basin and storage, all in white.
Painted wooden stairs (with the water heater beneath), lead from the ground floor to the large first floor bedroom (6 x 4.3m), with two windows to the front, one to the side, old beamed ceiling, polished pine floorboards and doors to a small balcony (1.25 x 1m) with spectacular sea views. The bedroom contains a king-sized bed, clothes storage, table and chairs and has a small built-in cupboard.
Outside is a rear terrace (7 x 2m approx) with wonderful views but the most dramatic feature of this house is a terrace which is reached along a stone path to the edge of the cliff. This has to be the most dramatically situated anywhere on the island and is frequently seen on photographs and paintings. It is triangular in shape, the sterna (2,378 galls.) is beneath it and it measures approximately 5 x 4 x 3.5m. The views are truly spectacular.
This is a superb property, tastefully restored and well-maintained in an unrivalled location with the option of purchasing the house next door (if you move fast, before it sells) to make a two- or three-bedroom residence. The terrace makes this property absolutely unique.
